Exciting and Creepy

For my speech club, one of the things I have to do is to gather news articles for the extemporaneous speaker's research. Today I ran across this one.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18358876/

This looks really cool, but for any of you who have ever seen the movie: "Six: The Mark Unleashed" (or read the book of Revelation for that matter), this is a rather creepy article.

I don't have much time, but check it out.

Creepy? In what way?

Personally, I think it's awesome. One step closer to total-immersion VR. <3

Yeah. I think it awesome, too, but although it is one step closer to total immersion, it's also one step closer to human-emmbedded micro chips. That would actually bo really cool, if it were for the fact that we know what they're going to be used for. (Mark of the beast on the hand or forehead. Can't buy stuff without it. Everyone without it is persecuted. etc.)

I guess the point of the post was to keep ya'll informed, that this technology brings us one step closer to The End. (of course, that's not really a bad thing either...)

I WILL not take a microchip, and I don't think many people will. It would be suicidal for the Government to require it. And we don't have to worry to much about the Beast and the "Mark". All that has happened. :)

Praise the Lord that we don't have to live through it.

I knew we were going to get into a discussion like this. I won't argue. (Not on this blog anyway)

I just think it's strange when I watch a show on the Discovory channel about future technology and they start using terms like. "So far 5 people have excepted the implant. And none have refused."

You knew because you suggested it! :p

Further, I doubt this will lead to embedded microchips; the whole point is for it to be conveniently removable, and people (like Matt) will doubtless be uncomfortable with having their body modified.

However, contrary to Matt, I'd actually be first in line to get a cybernetic uplink to the Internet in my skull, if such a thing could be done (and I have no doubts that it could be in the future). I'm no transhumanist, but I do appreciate the value of modifications.

This is, note, on the condition that it is of my own free will. If anyone tries to force me to get this, I won't, likely solely because I am incredibly stubborn and more than just a little prideful.

Yes Milkdud, 5 people have excepted the implant, but thoes are just 5 people doing it for the sake of science not the whole world or nation.

By the way, check out the Morton Blog :)
